Bids Opened on Route 166 Project in Central Coast
Bids were opened Aug 26 for a Route 166 highway project in southern San Luis Obispo and northern Santa Barbara counties. Madonna Construction of San Luis Obispo submitted the apparent low bid of 3,187,226.10, 6.45 over the engineer’s estimate, with Eastco H L of Redding at 3,507,336 and W E Baker of Redding at 3,652,220. The plan calls for nearly four miles of two lane expressway with a new Cuyama River bridge, detours, flagmen, a 32 foot wide road, two 12 foot lanes, four foot shoulders, and design standards to support 50 mph. Construction time is 240 working days, with an estimated completion about November next year.
