California acts to curb trading stamp wars at gas stations
California Attorney General Thomas C. Lynch filed consumer fraud suits against several service stations in a crackdown on trading stamp wars. Stations offered up to 19 times the usual stamps, while raising gasoline prices to as high as 50 cents a gallon to cover the costs.
