Evel Knievel Snake River Jump Shown In Santa Barbara

Evel Knievel's attempt to clear the mile wide Snake River Canyon on September 8 will be shown in color on large screen closed circuit television at the Earl Warren Showgrounds Exhibit Building in Santa Barbara. Tickets cost 10 and 8 dollars, on sale at the Showgrounds, with no home TV or radio broadcast. The program starts 1 p.m. with six daredevil acts before Knievel's leap.

Bendetto Throws Perfect Game in Women’s Tournament

Kathy Bendetto of Portland broke the tournament strikeout record with 14 as her team beat Greenley 5-0 to eliminate Greenley from the double elimination Women’s National Fast Pitch Softball Tournament. Riverside Grand Prix Can-Am race canceled at Riverside

Riverside International Raceway president Les Richter cited costs not justified by competition as the sixth Can-Am race of the season scheduled for October 26-27 in Riverside has been canceled. The event will be replaced by a Formula 5000 race and two International Race of Champions events.
