Sergeant Devor Honored for Procurement Achievements

Sanctuary at Honolulu Churches Extends 20 Days

Twenty three U.S. servicemen opposed to the Vietnam War extended their sanctuary in two Honolulu churches to 20 days as military authorities watched. The Rev. Robert Warner led the effort at Church of the Crossroads, with Unitarian Church of Honolulu joining after three GIs were moved there. Police warned of possible eviction for zoning and health violations while dissidents urged noncooperation with military injustice.

Autumn offensives sharpen Viet fight near Saigon Citadel

U S troops killed 76 North Vietnamese and Viet Cong in two battles near The Citadel 30 miles northwest of Saigon as rocket grenades and artillery roared at close range. In the Mekong Delta the 18th regiment of the 1st North Vietnamese Division moved into Chau Doc Province as U S forces report a rising autumn campaign threat. A North Vietnamese captain was captured after attempting to hide in a pond and a Col Hai Tram commander was killed amid a deadly North Vietnamese attack on Berchtesgaden base in the A Shau Valley.

Flood Cleanup Contract Awarded for Ventura Water District
