Planners approve two rezonings for hospital
Lompoc Planning Commission approved two rezonings to move the hospital district toward a major expansion. One rezones three Hickory Avenue lots to public facilities for acute care and a new coronary center, the other reclassifies 3.9 acres at Walnut and Third to facilities for a 74 bed long term care hospital. Voters already approved a $1.5 million bond to finance the expansion to meet valley medical needs.

All points bulletin for two FCI escapees named
A statewide all points bulletin was issued for Charles Hayden McManamy and Thomas Wesley George Jr. after they escaped yesterday from the Federal Correctional Institution camp area in a two ton government stake truck. Both men were minimum security inmates on a construction project. the truck remains missing. McManamy faced three years for distribution of a controlled substance and George six years for violation of the National Motor Vehicle Transportation Act.

Skylab 2 probes sun as rescue shield looms

Rider killed in saddle club member Maltman dies after horse accident
Retired Air Force Master Sergeant Harry R. Maltman of 321 West North Avenue died at Vandenberg Air Force Base Hospital from injuries after a horse fell on him on a Vandenberg embankment. Maltman, former Vandenberg Saddle Club president, rode daily. Funeral services are pending at McPeek Family Mortuary in Los Angeles.

On Nantucket Island a jeep overturn killed five young women as David Kennedy 18 son of the late Sen. Robert Kennedy and Joseph Kennedy III 21 drove they failed to curve. David Kennedy sprained back and Pamela Kelley 18 Centerville was seriously injured undergoing surgery. three other girls treated and released at Cape Cod Hospital.
