Locarno and Lompoc Council Reach Sister City Accord

European Locarno Councilman G Sotti exchanged official resolutions with Lompoc California officials to proclaim sister city status. Sotti presented a resolution at a Lions Inn dinner hosted by Emil Scolari and wife and extended an invitation for officials to visit Locarno. Mayor Stevens gave Sotti a framed resolution a plaque and pinquito beans as a souvenir.

Longtin to Leave Lompoc for Thousand Oaks City Attorney Post

Longtin, the Lompoc city attorney, will move to Thousand Oaks by September 1 to assume a similar role. He plans to split duties until a successor is named and proposes hiring a full time city attorney for 20 000 to 24 000 with no outside practice. He cites family considerations and a higher salary of 35 000 in Thousand Oaks.

Deputy shoots Lompoc man during struggle at Miguelito Canyon

Lawrence A. Decker, 36, was shot in the head by Deputy Robert Holden during a struggle as sheriff's officers tried to subdue him at Miguelito Canyon Road. Decker, a former radio DJ, was in fair condition at Marian Hospital. The incident began after Decker, armed with a .22 rifle, allegedly resisted officers responding to a tip he envisioned self harm.

Agnew offers to turn over financial records

Vice President Spiro T. Agnew offered to surrender all financial records and meet with federal prosecutors probing kickback allegations from contractors. In a letter to U S Attorney George Beall in Baltimore he said he is prepared to provide papers dating back to January 1 1967.
