Astrowheel ride collapses injuring seventeen in Houston
The Astrowheel, an octopus themed double ferris wheel at Astroworld near the Astrodome, partially collapsed injuring 17 and stranding 31 for over four hours. The ride was shut indefinitely and all but two victims were released from Methodist Hospital.

Two Teen Girls Found Stabbed Near San Jose Hilltop
Two 14 and 15 year old girls Deborah Furlong and Kathy Snoozy were found stabbed more than 50 times in a grove near their South San Jose homes after a noon picnic. Marshall was taken to Lompoc Hospital then transferred to Santa Maria for a knee injury. John W. Bauhaus, 76, of Solvang, sustained minor injuries when his car struck a stopped vehicle on Route 246. Chicago girl missing after murder tied to bus route to Lompoc
The victim, a Cabrillo High School sophomore identified by family as Vicki Nelson, disappeared after leaving Chicago on June 22 en route by bus to Lompoc via Phoenix and Phoenix, Ariz. Zanella said no conclusive evidence confirms her identity and autopsy results may take most of today to determine cause of death.
