Sierra Club to sponsor hike this Saturday

The Santa Lucia Chapter of the Sierra Club invites hikers for a three and a half to four mile easy walk this Saturday. Members from Paso Robles Audubon Society and California Native Plant Society join at 9 a.m. at Montana de Oro State Park ranger station.

Allan Hancock College drama presents the family melodrama Rags to Riches in Cabrillo Theater on Saturday May 16 with 1 00 pm 4 00 pm and 8 00 pm showings. Proceeds aid Title I transportation for disadvantaged children and tickets range 75 cents to 1.00.

Camporee Brings Lompoc San Luis Obispo Cadettes Together

Girl Scouts districts of Lompoc and San Luis Obispo held a Cadette Camporee April 24 to 26 at Lake Cachuma. Seventy three girls attended with Troops 84 157 and 398 from Lompoc represented by 35. Jody Berscheidt San Luis Obispo district adviser coordinated the event. Troops cooked their own meals and prepared menus shopping lists and duty charts. A swap meet showcased flower seeds bumper stickers missile badges and posters. Saturday offered swimming hiking boating fishing and socializing with Troop 84 in charge of the campfire program Saturday night.

Fish Fry in Park Supports Campaign Candidate

Miss Dianne Bouslaugh, Flower Festival queen candidate of the Filipino-American Club, will host a public fish fry in Ryan Park on Saturday May 2 from 12 noon to 4 pm. Menu includes fish scalloped potatoes or rice cole slaw and rolls with donations of 1.50 for adults and 0.75 for children under 12. Filipino delicacies such as puto cuchinta calamay cascaron and bico will be sold.
