About 108 workers from International Union District 50 Aliied and Technical Workers walk off at Grefco Inc. to strike after 80 percent voted against a company offer. Plant closed midnight with pickets planned around clock. salaried staff remain but operations halted.

Union Walkout Hits Southern California Trucking Firms

Nearly eight thousand Teamsters remain off the job at over 100 trucking companies in Southern California as union officials met in Washington to plan a membership vote on a proposed national contract. The walkout began over the exclusion of a 10 day sick pay clause from the national contract.

Arcadia Woman and Child Hurt in Car Collision

An Arcadia woman, Norma Jean Blinn, 40, suffered possible concussions and her three-year-old daughter Kathleen Blinn had a fractured arm after their car collided with a parked vehicle in the 1300 Block of East Olive Avenue. Both were treated. the mother in improved condition at Lompoc Hospital, the daughter released to friends. The parked car belonged to Robert Gaumer of 1308 E Olive Ave. both vehicles had major damage.
