Missile tests justified at Vandenberg competition
Lieutenant General Glen W. Martin outlined reasons for the third annual SAC missile combat competition at Vandenberg Air Force Base. He said the event showcases skills, deters war, and improves the missile force as SAC seeks a stronger defense for the country and the free world. Competitors from nine SAC wings draw time envelopes for the Blanchard Trophy, with awards for best Minuteman and Titan wings and individual winners. The contest runs May 4 with an awards ceremony May 5 at the base theater.
