Rampage in Los Angeles Leaves Six Dead and Sixteen Shot
A two hour outburst by William R. Bonner left 16 shot and six dead at six locations in Los Angeles. Bonner, 25, wounded in a gunbattle with police, faces murder charges. Suspected Nob Hill rapist caught after 500 mile flight
John P. Bunyard, 28, sought for rape and linked to two killings and multiple kidnappings across Northern California, was shot and captured in the Sierra foothills after a struggle in which a police sergeant fired. Two women, Nancy Chalburg and Helen Cramer, were killed in Mariposa as Bunyard demanded keys and a vehicle.

Elusive kidnaper arrested in Idaho after five-day chase
Robert Kennedy 41 of New Meadows was captured after a zigzag pursuit through rugged forests. He wounded deputy Duane Tullis an hour before capture and had posed as a deputy during the hunt. Kennedy, armed with a high powered rifle, was found hiding in underbrush by deputies. Tullis received treatment for injuries and is in fair condition. Kennedy was questioned in Council.

Six armed Indians including a juvenile were arrested on assault and trespass charges as they attempted to occupy the 11 acre American River site in Sacramento where Gov Ronald Reagan planned a new California governor mansion.
