Anti-Israel Resolution Softened at United Nations
United States persuaded Britain and France to water down a strongly anti-Israel resolution in the UN Security Council. Arab backers forced a postponement of the vote after a three hour delay and brief meeting. The only solid result was unanimous approval of Egypt's request for a comprehensive report on Middle East peace efforts since 1967. Secretary General Waldheim said the report would take three to four weeks to prepare.

U S charged with making spy flights over North Vietnam
