Rancheros Visitadores begin eight day trek with opening ceremonies May 3 at Jackson Camp Santa Ynez Valley. RVs will then move to Santa Inez mission Solvang for the ride and a week of events including horse show rodeo trapshooting and trophy presentations. Student strikes fizzle at Rutgers U Chicago and Harvard

UPI reports that student walkouts at Rutgers Newark and the University of Chicago faltered, with only a fraction of undergraduates staying away. Harvard saw mixed attendance as faculty criticized both protesters and administration after police ousted sit ins from University Hall and most classes ran despite the action.

Amnesia victim returns home amid mystery of identity

Amnesia patient Eno Onmai later identified as Tressa Ann Prohansky 32 wife of West Liberty fertilizer plant owner, reuniting with husband Marvin and two sons in Iowa. Las Vegas police say she may suffer self induced hypnosis after being found bound in a nun like outfit at the Sal Sager Hotel on April 2.

Turn Lane at Gate Eases Lompoc Vandenberg Traffic

Construction began this week on a right turn lane to relieve afternoon congestion at the main gate serving Lompoc, Vandenberg Village, and family housing commuters. The $23,700 project by Arthur Q. Evans Construction will add a 20 foot wide paved roadway about a quarter mile long with shoulders. Completion is expected in June, per civil engineer Morris Sobham.

Job Corps faces shutdown under Nixon plan

Washington reports Labor Secretary George P. Shultz moves to close 59 Job Corps centers by July 1 and shift operations to 27 inner city and near city training sites.
