Five indicted for arms smuggling to IRA

A Baltimore grand jury indicted five men on 23 counts of conspiracy alleging they conspired to defraud the U.S. government by purchasing 168 weapons and 10,600 rounds of ammunition for the IRA from March 23, 1973, to February 14, 1974. The probe identified 158 AR15 rifles and several handguns among the seized arms.
