Tornado Disaster Strikes South and Midwest Killing Over 300

United Press International reports the worst cyclonic onslaught in decades tore through 11 states and Windsor Ontario, leaving 318 dead and more than 2,000 injured. Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee lead the toll. Monticello Indiana faced outages and debris after a four minute rampage. Missing include workers from a Tippecanoe River incident and a Volkswagen van crew.

Ohio twister levels town near Brandenburg

A deadly tornado struck an Ohio River hamlet, killing at least 30 people and leaving bodies along the riverbank. Postmaster Thomas Tichenor described the black, piercing sky and vivid destruction as postal clerk Owen Dugan witnessed the disaster. Dugan’s sister was among the victims.
