You Be The Judge: Whitfords Talk On Judging Art

The Lompoc Art Association hosts You Be The Judge a Tuesday program at United Methodist Church 7 30 p m. The Whitfords a painter and sculptor will show samples of their work and explain how judges reach conclusions with audience voting. Valerie Whitford an acclaimed artist lecturer and instructor brings a national profile with over 25 solo shows and works in notable collections.

Westside 4-H Awards At Demonstration Day

4-H reporter Linnea Collins notes Westside 4-H Club held a community meeting at La Canada School Cafetorium. Gregory Beard and Arthur Kroetsch presented a potato planting demonstration and awards were given for the recent demonstration day at Santa Ynez. Members listed include Beard, Debbie Ascheral, Caroline Terry, James Kroetsch, Margaret Kroetsch, and Rosie Kroetsch with Sue Ellen McCann as judge. Scot Ancel covered the club booth at the Ecology Fair in Ryan Park. Margaret Kroetsch announced a public spaghetti dinner on April 19 from 5 30 to 7 30 p m.

Reserve Auxiliary Plans April Events For Scholarship Fund

The Ladies Auxiliary of Fleet Reserve Association 292 hosts Mrs. Fred Mann Southwest Regional president for an official visit on Wednesday April 7 in Veterans Memorial Hall. A dessert social follows the 7:30 p.m. meeting. An April 15 jewelry party at 1109 time opens at 7:30 p.m. and a rummage sale on April 15–16 at the same address raises funds for the auxiliary scholarship.

Omega Phi Elect Officers for 1971-72 Chapter Year

Newly elected as president of Omega Phi Chapter Beta Sigma Phi is Mrs. Robert Hebert. Officers named for 1971-72 include Miss Marjie Browning vice president Mrs Lyle Coffin second vice president Mrs Richard Miranda recording secretary Mrs Perry White corresponding secretary Mrs Thomas Septer treasurer and Mrs Lionel Holter extension officer. Installation ceremonies set for May with election night hostesses Mrs Hebert and Mrs Holter. Easter egg hunt for members children April 9 at 11 a.m. in Ryan Park announced. Ritual of Jewels April 12 for new pledges after six months. Founders Day luncheon April 24 for all five local Beta Sigma Phi chapters at Lompoc Valley Bowl honoring founder Walter W Ross. Each chapter will reveal its Girl of the Year. Drama program led by Mrs Lyle Coffin covered tragedy humor and melodrama. pantomime discussed and performed by members. Mrs. Charles Pryor is elected president of Chi Phi Chapter Beta Sigma Phi. Officers include Mrs. Robert McKean vice president and Mrs. Henry Habenick recording secretary. A bio environment talk by Bruce Beebe, recycling plans, and a Las Vegas party fundraiser with prizes featured at the Lompoc Club.

FEC Women's Club Sets April Meeting and Elections

The Federal Electric Corporation Women's Club in Alpha Clubhouse will hold an April 6 meeting to elect officers. Hostesses will be the Mines. Dale Lemen and Robert Beaman are noted. A recent guest was Commodore Nixon, UC Santa Barbara student, aided by a three year scholarship fund. Prizes were won by Mrs Lemen and Mrs A Swanson. Planning also covers a May 2 FEC picnic at Union Oil Grounds Santa Maria with a carnival booth theme.
