Heavy fighting reported at Fire Base 6 in Central Highlands
UPI reported heavy fighting near Fire Base 6 as North Vietnamese units attempted to drive out U S and South Vietnamese defenders. Two Americans were killed and four more died in an accidental artillery strike near the DMZ while six were wounded. A shell from friendly forces hit a night bivouac of the 101st Airborne near Cam Lo nine miles west of the DMZ. The incident is under investigation. Elsewhere Communist forces renewed the attack on Duc Duc, a district capital in ruins.

Committee OKs Medicare cuts in benefits and doctor charges
