Oats From 66 Years Ago Preserved By Yost Family
J W Yost of Ephrata preserves a pint of oats harvested on his father George Yost’s Rothsville area farm sixty six years ago. The grain is very hard and kept in a bottle. Yost’s brother W Yost born June of that year, and J W Yost born twenty years later. A large share of that year’s oats was kept by the elder Yost and, on his death, divided among six sons, four of whom survive.
