Runaway Girl Mary Yiengst Returned Home From Philadelphia
Mary Yiengst fifteen year old daughter of Mrs John Weidman ran away from Mt Gretna after working for Yiengst near Mastersonville and cooking for soldiers at Mt Gretna. She traveled to Philadelphia with a man who promised to meet her in Chester. Philadelphia police detained her until Constable Aiflen Hacker brought her back. She says she learned not to trust smooth talkers who lure girls to the city.

On Tuesday N D Sturgis L N Moyer W Kis singer C H Kreider and S Folt took 26 bass 12 catfish and a salmon with Sturgis claiming 12 bass the daily limit. Saturday’s group including L Sturgis R Furlow and H Grazer brought in 11 bass 13 catfish 12 sunfish and 6 eels. Lebanon Bologna offered at 15 cents a pound at Doster's.

Death of Warwick's Oldest Resident Miss Caroline Uoffman
Miss Caroline Uoffman died at 6 10 am Monday at the home of Harry Gehn on East Front Street Warwick. She was 96 the oldest resident in the area born in Rome Warwick township later living in York county. She had been mute since age six and blind since three years ago confined to bed since December. A Lutheran church member she is survived by three half sisters and three half brothers. Funeral held Wednesday at her home with burial at Gray hills near Pennville.

Abram S. Koser a 74 year old retired farmer died at his Manheim home on Saturday night from apoplexy. He was a bachelor and survived by brothers Henry S. and Barbara of Manheim Daniel of Middletown. sisters Mrs Daniel Sorts Florin and Mrs Joseph Bell Penryn. The funeral was held at his home and at the Manheim Mennonite Church with interment at Henniy's meeting house north of the borough.

Former Linden Hell Principal Dies at 70 in New York City
Rev. Charles B. Shultz, former principal of Linden Fiall Seminary from 1992 to 1997, died Friday July 21 in New York City at age 70. He lived retired the past four years due to deafness. He is survived by two wives and four children.

The Moravian Sunday school held its annual picnic on Spring grounds drawing about 1200 attendees from town and beyond. Highlights included free coffee cream, games for all ages, a band concert, a patriotic procession, sparklers, and a potato hunt won by Joseph Doster with 17 tubers earning a gold pin. Seventy five locals joined the Forester’s Willow Grove Park excursion via P and R railroad with crowds enjoying Philadelphia sights, the Russian Symphony Orchestra, and the electric fountain.

Horse Scared by Motorcycle Causes Dairy Wagon Rampage
Edwin Longenecker of Lime Rock was riding to the creamery with milk when his horse spooked by a passing motorcycle near the fountain. The animal bolted toward Warwick, the driver held on, and the team halted beyond the chocolate factory after the wagon shaft broke and harness tore. A large amount of milk spilled.
