Miss Helen Beasley of Stockton township Sewing Vi 4-H club earned an expense paid trip by winning first prize for a dress at Greene county round-up. She praised a Sullivan county demo on varying ensembles and called the Purdue round-up the best yet. Beasley, a six year 4-H participant, also has baking experience with a third place in last fall’s Greene county baking judging. She serves as junior leader of Nimble Thimble club handling parliamentary duties and staff knowledge. She plans to attend the district 4-H camp after the Lafayette event.
Misa Beashey, a senior at Linton-Stogkten high school, plans to join the 4-H club as a junior leader and take Sewing VII again next summer. She aims to attend Purdue University for vocational home economics after graduation and eventually become a school teacher. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Irvin Beasley of rural route northwest of Linton.
A joint meeting of multiple Linton 4-H clubs was held at the high school with the Little Hoosiers in charge. A piano solo was presented during the afternoon program.
Doris Breck led group singing and a short talk by Breva Williams preceded a reading by Norma McCullough. Helen Bemis and Mary Keewits sang as a brief business meeting decided to enter a float in the Linton Fourth of July celebration. A social hour closed the afterglow.
The Glenburn Farmers of Tomorrow 4-H club held its second meeting at Bobby Tendick’s home. Members answered roll call with breed names of hogs and chose Subby Clayton Walter Bryant and Harry Lee Gabbard to present demonstrations at the next gathering. Ice cream waffles and iced tea were served to members and guest Bill Grambill. The date for the next meeting was not specified.
In Switz City Fairplay and Grant townships Alsonia 4-11 club held a June meeting at the high school gym. Miss Freida Mathers was honored before she departs for Louisville Kentucky to teach. Madelyn Rodecker led the meeting with club songs and a roll call, Edna Mae Sparks demonstrated lifting flour, and Helen Potter spoke on the Purdue round-up trip.
A veteran educator with eight years at Switz City School has been appointed to continue serving the district. The commitment marks ongoing stability for the local school community and aligns with ongoing student support initiatives.
The Buny Fingers 4-H club met Thursday at the local high school for its regular gathering. Marguerite Clack demonstrated patties of hen while Thea Pay Tuttle led a song. Attendees included Rosalie Francis, Billy Heenan, Elizabet Donie, Thera Pay Tuttle, Margaret Rogers, and junior leader Harriett Mingle. The next meeting is set for Thursday July 6.
