Worker escapes injuries at mine tipple incident
Raymond McKim of Linton rural route narrowly escaped serious injuries at 1 o'clock this morning when a large timber fell from the 65 foot tipple at the Birkland mine two miles south of the city. He held his footing and sustained only a minor bruise, resuming work shortly after. The mine on state road 59 near Heitman Hill employs several laborers. Ben Birkland, superintendent, said no others were hurt.
