A Lexington welder, Dennis L. Sell, 32, was charged with first degree murder and sexual assault in the beating death of Ruth Eby, a 32 year old Lexington mother of three. He was ordered held without bond by Dawson County Judge George Bigelow with a preliminary hearing set before district court. Eby’s nude, battered body was found by searchers near a field and a secluded road. Sell was arrested at the Sperry New Holland plant in Lexington after being questioned about the disappearance. The case follows the earlier vanishing of Judy Dangler, another area resident who disappeared from a nearby rural home.
