Tax plan aims to zero federal income tax for many families
Washington looking at a broad reform proposed for 1970s era relief. The plan would exempt a family of four earning about 9500 dollars and a couple earning up to 7500 and a single person up to 5500 from federal income tax. It would cut rates, create a 250 per person tax credit, retain some deductions, curb capital gains treatment, and curb yacht and golf deductions while expanding investment credits for business. Carter advisers say major elements include rate cuts, new credits, and expanded investment incentives with unresolved issues on Social Security benefits and exporter tax breaks.
