Sargent to Campaign for Taft Faces Taft Labor Critique
Frank P. Sargent, former chief of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen, will campaign for Taft while labor groups recollect his 1893 critique of Judge Taft and the railroad injunction. The Democratic Campaign Text Book notes Sargent’s stance and questions whether an office holder should influence labor votes in 1908. The piece cites Sargent’s North American Review article arguing against judicial power over railroad workers and highlights related political maneuvering in Chicago.
