1908 Tax List Completed and Local Notes Show Wealth

Merchants Lose Two Games at Marceline

The Lexington Merchants returned from Marceline with two losses to a fast Marceline team. Scores were 11-6 in the first game and 34 to the Marceline tally in the second. McDonald and Terhune pitched the opener while Evarts pitched the second.

Fine fish exhibit at Peak home in Lexington

An exhibition showcased eight large black bass from Dr. J. L. Peak and Lawrence Peak. They reported this catch from Crooked River in Michigan during a Sehing trip. Weights ranged from 11 to 44 pounds and set new Crooked River records.

Two Weddings in Lexington as Brides Change Names

Two weddings occurred as Thursday morning Missea Rosa Beretta and Theresa Gloria of Bruesnen in Navarro Biello Italy arrived to make Lexington their future home. After the ceremonies their names become Mrs Joseph Roxetta and Mrs Nathalia Diana Chare, with licenses procured Wednesday evening and Father Geo B Curry performing the ceremonies Thursday at 7 50 PM.

Miss Maud Rose resumes charge of the millinery department at Fredendall and Wilson after spending months on the Pacific coast and returning to the Eastern market to purchase stock. Her return is expected to greatly enhance the store's popularity and offerings.

Pattillo to Leave Lexington for Troost Avenue Church

The Southwest Missouri Conference adjourned as Bishop Morrison announced new appointments. Dr. G. E. Pattillo was withdrawn from Lexington and assigned to the Troost avenue church in Kansas City, a promotion noted for its denomination’s prominence. Lexington College opens for new session with strong attendance

Lexington College started its session on Thursday with high expectations for attendance and scholastic achievement. Faculty changes include Ludebuet as director of music, Ruggles as director of art, Dunn in expression, Wood as violin teacher, and Cheney replacing Le Grande as vocal instructor. A large group of girls is already on campus and a teachers' recital is anticipated next Thursday.

Lexington Elks baseball team from Lodge No 749 defeated Richmond Mo by 8 runs in a decisive game. Brockman pitched shutout ball with strong support from the lineup led by Hyergene Clemens, Hrockman, and Meyer. Nelson umpired. another game may come next Thursday as Lexington already clinches the series.
