State Campaign Under Way At Sedalia Meeting

Democratic state campaign opened in Sedalia with Cowherd and James addressing a large crowd. Republicans accused it of drawing beer crowds and apathy, while Democrats promised a Democratic landslide. reports note bands, a parade, and a packed grandstand as speakers urged support.

Democrats Rally After Special Train Returns Home

An election event featured brief remarks from the attorney-general candidate and speakers Paint er, Gordon, and Roach. Townspeople noted several orderly jags and a special train delivering a mixed but hopeful crowd of Democrats back home after the gathering. Hurrah for Bryan.

Court session clears road petitions and opens two roads

The county court met in regular session with most judges present. Several road cases were disposed of and two petitions advanced: a new road for George L. Hudson et al was ordered open and J A Campbell’s petition for a new road was granted, opening the road.

Democratic Headquarters Opened in Traders Bank Building

Democratic headquarters have been opened in room 11 of the Traders' Bank building. They are in charge of W. D. Meng who is noted for providing the latest insider political dope. A phonograph plays Bryan and Toit records. all Democrats, especially far ore, are welcome.

Dinner and copper sale by Dover Baptist church ladies

One More Ball Game Elk Team Meets Brennelsen

The Elk baseball team will play a final Monday contest at their home ground against Brennelsen of Kansas City. Brennelsen, regarded as one of Kanville’s best, has defeated several teams including Schmelers K C A Q and Stevens. A large crowd is expected for this season finale. J M Lauderback of India Oklahoma visited the Intelligence office Thursday and noted Democrats are favored to win all Oklahoma offices this year.

Mrs 16 McConkey Heads Home After Visit

Mrs 16 McConkey and her two children left Thursday for their home in St Louis after visiting her parents Dr and Mrs EC Gordon. Her sister Miss Blaire Gordon accompanied her home for a visit.

Wedding Of Belek James Kinkead And Miss Jane Callaway

Wedneday afternoon ceremony at the Callaway home seven miles south of Lexington united Belek James Kinkead and Miss Jane Callaway with Dr C F Pattillo officiating. The home was decorated in white and gold with a parlor bower of asters and goldenrod as the wedding party stood. After a short, impressive ceremony guests enjoyed orange ice and cake while rice and old shoes showered the couple as they departed for Kansas City and a stay in north Missouri before housekeeping in a Franklin avenue cottage. Both families are prominent and respected in Lexington society.

Death of Mrs Catherine Goodwin at age 69

Mrs Catherine Goodwin aged 69 died Tuesday morning at her College Place home from rheumatism of the heart. Widowed by William Goodwin who died in mines three years ago, she came from Scotland long ago. Survived by four children William Samuel Mrs William Campbell and Mrs William Herd, all of this city. Funeral Thursday at 3 pm from the residence, Dr E C Gordon officiating. Burial was Machpejab.

Opening of Central College on a strong first day

At Central College initial chapel exercises Wednesday 92 students attended including two boarders and ten day pupils. About twenty rooms remain unoccupied. Summer improvements enhanced facilities with the Iduna Literary society library restored as a restroom and the recital hall converted into a library. Dr Palatore donated books and cases. Further interior improvements were completed as the president’s residence is expected soon.

Town meeting previews a pleasant, profitable school year

A public function drew many townspeople and visitors with informal talks by Hon. Perry Rader of Jefferson City and Dr W B Palmore of St Louis along with several teachers. Optimism pervaded the gathering, promising a school year that would be pleasant and profitable.

Richmond Elks Triumph Over Lexington In Sluggish Tilt

Richmond defeats Lexington 15 to 3 in a slow nine inning game marked by sparse hitting and a few bright defensive plays. Murbert, imported from Austria Hungary, led the theatrical amusement while Cy Campbell drove in four runs. Final line shows Richmond 15 Lexington 3 with Harvert Owens Gibson Brockman Meyer on the battery and Hurley umpiring. Time about 2:30.
