A large crowd gathered in Higginsville Park for a Democratic campaign opening in the 7th district. Speakers Cowherd and Hamlin praised moving the state toward November victory, with Band procession from Lexington and speeches at McCord's park and the Confederate Home.

J C Collin drew attention on Main Street Thursday evening by riding an unusual single wheel bicycle. Spectators watched as he balanced on the high iron frame amid cheers and gasps. The stunt ended with observers noting the crowd’s reaction and the peculiar display.

A rubbish heap lay under the jewelry store of J. H. Briggs until Mr. Coffin purchased the lot. The vehicle was in goat condition except for tires stretched and cut down. Coffin, a trick rider, promises exhibitions after getting in practice.

Death by Own Action of Two Dogs at Ladeson Porch

A peculiar accident on the back porch of M. Ladeson’s residence on Tuesday afternoon killed two dogs. Mrs. Launs chained Spots, her fox terrier, to a post when Tuck, Nannie Steele’s Boston bulldog, tangled in the chain and strangled himself and Spots while swinging from the porch. Ladeson found the dogs dead at supper. local residents, visits, and travel noted, with several names and brief movements.
