North Dakota farmers face heavy taxes under Nonpartisan rule
The text argues that five years after the Nonpartisan league formed in North Dakota, Socialist leaders have failed to deliver promised economic benefits. State administration costs have surged, with 1919 taxes rising 150 to 300 percent, especially on farm lands which now shoulder over 70 percent of the tax burden. Concrete county examples in Ransom, Morton, Pembina, and others illustrate steep valuation increases and higher state taxes, blamed on Socialist policies and calls for broader confiscatory taxation.

The Fargo Courier News editorialized that Emma Goldman and Alexander Berkman, long associated with anarchism, acted as safety valves rather than threats as it protested government actions against Red Socialist aliens.
