A mob in Peshastin led by banker Frank Wingate prevented Nonpartisan League organizer J J Baxter from speaking, claiming he had no right to address locals. The group roped off homes, declared themselves 100 percent American, and dispersed without violence though Baxter reportedly escaped through a back door and disappeared.
