Broad based terraces rise in Plymouth County farms
The rise in terrace construction in Plymouth County is linked to farmers adopting broad based terraces that are harder to farm than contour methods. Vernon Grubb on the D. S. Wormley farm noted the terraces’ height while a nine tenths of a foot rise can still hold 2 inches of runoff water. Recent Soil and Water Conservation district activities include staking terraces for George Bindner and completion of 1.2 miles for Daié McCune and 19 miles for Eldon Bryant, with farm plans completed for N. J. Bolser and Walter Borgesom.
