Richard C Kaschmitter seaman USN son of Mr and Mrs Richard F Kaschmitter 126 Second Ave Le Mars Iowa returned to Long Beach Calif May 21 after a seven month Far East cruise aboard USS Toledo. Toledo conducted gunnery damage control and engineering training with the U S Seventh Fleet and was first US Navy ship to enter Shimizu harbor Japan.

Union Consolidated School chief resigns for Dunlap post
L L Thompson, longtime superintendent at Union Consolidated School near Le Mars, resigns to take the Dunlap Iowa position. He and his family live at the Union teacherage until a new superintendent is found. Richard P. Gaffey, 21, of Le Mars, faces operating while intoxicated charges after a one car crash on Military road west of Talbot road. Three passengers, Raymond W. Wiese 20, Jerry J. Morgensen 19, and Mary C. ONeill 21, all of Sioux City, charged with intoxication. bonds posted and released. Marjorie O’Connor 21 remains in St. Vincent hospital with back injuries. Other court fines listed for various offenses. Local meetings and church programs noted along with 4-H Club activities and a Bible School schedule.
