Rites for Remsen public high school and St Marys Catholic high school are planned this week. Public high school to graduate seven seniors Thursday with Don Stone of Sioux City as speaker and £. F. Keifer presenting diplomas. St Marys Catholic high school will graduate forty seniors Friday at St Marys church with Rev Carl Hansen of Maryhill parish Cherokee county as speaker and Rt Rev Ms Francis Schultes presenting diplomas. A marriage license was issued to Lee A Pick of Les Mars and Carol Ann McGrath of Sioux City. they plan to marry Saturday in Sioux City. Mr and Mrs Ell Roberts and children from Spokane visited the Henn home. Mrs Roberts is a niece of Mrs Henn.

Pastor Clarence W Dehne Assigned to Le Mars Church

The Rev Clarence W Dehne was assigned as pastor of Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Church in Le Mars at the Iowa Conference session. He and his family arrive tomorrow May 24 and will reside at 600 1st Ave SE in the Le Mars parsonage with three daughters Ann Fonda and Carol. Dehne is a Westmar College graduate and has served at Evangelical Theological U B churches in Waverly Cedar Rapids and Webster City. He is Director of Adult Work for the Iowa Conference of the E U B church. The former pastor Rev Kenneth Clawson and family will move to Naperville to join the Evangelical Theological Seminary as Administrative President. their new address is 618 North Ellsworth St in Naperville.

Landmark Barn Destroyed by Lightning Blaze

A lightning strike at 8 35 am caused a 14 year old barn on Franz Rubbert farm three miles north of the city to burn. Firefighters faced strong winds as 28 neighbors assisted in the efforts. The blaze destroyed feed corn hay straw and a baler. Seventeen ewes and 12 lambs escaped as the structure collapsed. Mrs Rubbert and visitors arrived in town during the day.

Living Memorials program honors Plymouth county deceased

Friends and relatives of 39 Plymouth county residents established Living Memorials funded through the Iowa Division ACS to support cancer education and research. Since 1955 memorials have grown to 5,387 Iowa entries with monthly gifts up to 40 dollars, some as high as 5,000, with living families notified and the individuals named in a permanent book. Le Mars Drum & Bugle Corps to Perform Friday Night

Frances Elwood Gray, president of the Le Mars Drum & Bugle Corp Iowa state champions, said the group will perform on the Le Mars streets at about 9:00 pm on Friday May 24. The annual Memorial Day dance will be held at the Le Mars Armory on May 30 with a Rambler door prize. A $1 dance ticket also serves as the raffle entry.

Muddy Rain Reflects Storm Across Kansas Area

Stormy conditions over Kansas Cay and southward produced muddy rain Monday night as dust carried by tornadoes from northern Missouri to Texas and Louisiana colored windows and cars. The Weather Bureau cited tornado-linked dust travel with gusty winds in Le Martin and warnings of danger in Sioux and Lyon counties. Radio KILEM scientists reported total rainfall of .91 inches from Thursday to Monday night, including .39 inches by 6:00 p.m. Monday.

KLEM Back On Air After Transformer Burnout

Radio station KLEM returned to full power briefly on Wednesday after an equipment burnout caused an hours long outage. Iowa Public Service Co. provided two pole transformers and Vern Karli of Karli TV loaned a HAM transformer. IPS crews repaired an improvised setup and the station resumed at 2 50 p.m. until a replacement from Quincy arrives.

At 10 am on May 22 Casilda Moritz of Remsen drove a 1950 Buick southward and stopped for a school stop sign when rear ended by a 1951 Buick driven by Joseph Roberts of Noblesville Indiana.
