Rites for Remsen public high school and St Marys Catholic high school are planned this week. Public high school to graduate seven seniors Thursday with Don Stone of Sioux City as speaker and £. F. Keifer presenting diplomas. St Marys Catholic high school will graduate forty seniors Friday at St Marys church with Rev Carl Hansen of Maryhill parish Cherokee county as speaker and Rt Rev Ms Francis Schultes presenting diplomas. A marriage license was issued to Lee A Pick of Les Mars and Carol Ann McGrath of Sioux City. they plan to marry Saturday in Sioux City. Mr and Mrs Ell Roberts and children from Spokane visited the Henn home. Mrs Roberts is a niece of Mrs Henn.
The Rev Clarence W Dehne was assigned as pastor of Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Church in Le Mars at the Iowa Conference session. He and his family arrive tomorrow May 24 and will reside at 600 1st Ave SE in the Le Mars parsonage with three daughters Ann Fonda and Carol. Dehne is a Westmar College graduate and has served at Evangelical Theological U B churches in Waverly Cedar Rapids and Webster City. He is Director of Adult Work for the Iowa Conference of the E U B church. The former pastor Rev Kenneth Clawson and family will move to Naperville to join the Evangelical Theological Seminary as Administrative President. their new address is 618 North Ellsworth St in Naperville.
Mrs Albert Miller Jr and Shirley Arndt wed at St Boniface Sioux City on May 22 1957 in a ceremony at 10 am followed by a nuptial mass. Father Ignatius read the vows as the choir sang. Bride wore chantilly lace with illusion veil and carried red rose buds on a prayer book. Attendants wore white lace gowns with pink and blue taffeta. reception and breakfast followed. The couple plan to reside in Chicago after a wedding trip.

St Clair Kovaleske celebrated its 29th anniversary in Le Mars with in store prizes for guests who registered. Ivan Schulz won Samsonite luggage, Gene Leusch won a $9.95 jacket, Ted Ruether took a $7.95 Mallory hat, and Mrs Tony De Boom won a $5 sport shirt. Mrs Vincent Puetz earned Osh Kosh overalls for her husband.
A lightning strike at 8 35 am caused a 14 year old barn on Franz Rubbert farm three miles north of the city to burn. Firefighters faced strong winds as 28 neighbors assisted in the efforts. The blaze destroyed feed corn hay straw and a baler. Seventeen ewes and 12 lambs escaped as the structure collapsed. Mrs Rubbert and visitors arrived in town during the day.
Friends and relatives of 39 Plymouth county residents established Living Memorials funded through the Iowa Division ACS to support cancer education and research. Since 1955 memorials have grown to 5,387 Iowa entries with monthly gifts up to 40 dollars, some as high as 5,000, with living families notified and the individuals named in a permanent book. Marion McConnell of Fort Dodge is noted. Darrell Ketelsen, Le Mars, attends a PEO meeting in Des Moines.
Frances Elwood Gray, president of the Le Mars Drum & Bugle Corp Iowa state champions, said the group will perform on the Le Mars streets at about 9:00 pm on Friday May 24. The annual Memorial Day dance will be held at the Le Mars Armory on May 30 with a Rambler door prize. A $1 dance ticket also serves as the raffle entry.
Stormy conditions over Kansas Cay and southward produced muddy rain Monday night as dust carried by tornadoes from northern Missouri to Texas and Louisiana colored windows and cars. The Weather Bureau cited tornado-linked dust travel with gusty winds in Le Martin and warnings of danger in Sioux and Lyon counties. Radio KILEM scientists reported total rainfall of .91 inches from Thursday to Monday night, including .39 inches by 6:00 p.m. Monday.
Tony Sitarman was drawn first in the Golden Harvest drawing in Le Mars on Wednesday but was not present to claim the 28 dollars. He received 14 dollars in merchandise coupons emailed to him. The second winner was Mrs. A. B. Grasz of 421 1st Ave. ON. W. in Le Mars. she was present and won 14 dollars.
Marilyn Elizabeth Eufers and Daniel Patrick McCarthy wed at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sioux City with a double ring ceremony officiated by Rev Edward C Lily. Attendants wore pink and white nylon, brides gown featured Swiss embroidered organdy, and a noon reception followed for 178 guests at Moose Lodge.
Climbing Hill Glen Hakeman who lives at 37 Vesa Court Storm Lake will graduate from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake on May 30 at 2 00 PM with a B A in business education and will teach in Climbing Hill Iowa Mrs Hakeman formerly Foyee Swindle of Le Mars They have a son Mr and Mrs Geo Brandeburg attended the funeral of a relative at Sherburn Minnesota on Tuesday
Radio station KLEM returned to full power briefly on Wednesday after an equipment burnout caused an hours long outage. Iowa Public Service Co. provided two pole transformers and Vern Karli of Karli TV loaned a HAM transformer. IPS crews repaired an improvised setup and the station resumed at 2 50 p.m. until a replacement from Quincy arrives.
A solemn high Mass for the 50th anniversary of Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. D. Fisch’s ordination will be at 10 o'clock Monday morning May 27 at St. Joseph Church. The Most Rev. Joseph M. Mueller will preside with Rev. Leo McCoy delivering the sermon, and a large attendance promised with a noon banquet to follow.
Keith Renken of Le Mars Iowa will graduate with a business administration degree from the University of Arizona on May 29. An outstanding student his campus career includes roles in Sophos Chain Gang Junior Class President Student Senate Blue Key National Honorary and Alpha Tau Omega. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Fred Renken.
At 10 am on May 22 Casilda Moritz of Remsen drove a 1950 Buick southward and stopped for a school stop sign when rear ended by a 1951 Buick driven by Joseph Roberts of Noblesville Indiana. Front end of Roberts car and rear bumper of Moritz damaged. No damage estimate filed at mayor's office. At 4th Street and 3rd Ave at 5:55 pm on May 21 a collision damaged the left side of the Roy Weise car and the front end of the Milbrodt car. Report filed at mayor's office.
Plaintiff alleges petroleum products were delivered to the defendant, part payment made, leaving $268.18 unpaid, and asks for court costs. Filed in the court, judgement requested against the defendant.

Mr and Mrs Henry Hillrichs of Craig Iowa will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary on Friday May 24 with a family supper at home. They have four children Robert Donald and Lowell of Akron and daughter Lois Ervin of Centerville SD, totaling six grandchildren.
