Collision damages two cars near Le Mars on Highway 3 5
Early today a 95S model driven by Ted Nelson of Marcus sideswiped Gerald Amundson of Linn Grove about half a mile east of Le Mars on highways 3 and 5. Nelson sustained $800 damage, Amundson $150. Amundson was taken to Sacred Heart hospital for knee injuries after the 12 45 am crash.

Two Ohio youths held for Le Mars gas station robbery
Youths Fagen Jones nine and Randall Dial eighteen of Erie Ohio were accused of robbing a Standard Oil station at the Highway 5 75 intersection in Le Mars a week earlier. They allegedly struck the attendant Roy Long with a club, were jailed in Plymouth County, and scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Justice Lenihan at 2:00 pm. A Cherokee Times report credits Officer Emmett Lyman with the arrest after a five day manhunt. a high school girl aided in the escape. The pair were remanded to the Grand Jury with defense attorney Bob Roseberry appointed. Ohio officials may seek extradition for related offenses.

He received a $50 savings bond and plaque and a trip at state expense to Maquoketa Iowa for the May 18 contest. the state winner goes to the Washington Abana contest August 15. Lyndon Haddock 16 Moville finished second and Clarence Lawrence 17 received third with $25 bonds and plaques. Twenty four teens competed in driving knowledge and four obstacle tests. Robert Beck led the event for the junior chamber.

Mullally Opens Poultry Processing Plant in Le Mars
Mullally's MM Produce Company plans a new concrete block plant near Plymouth and 2nd Avenue North in Le Mars. The facility, with a 32 foot rear expansion to 38 feet, will serve as a central poultry processor for dealers within 75 to 100 miles, supplying large processors and wholesalers rather than individual farmers.
