School district growth clash ends in court ruling
In Johnson County Iowa a 1984 effort by Merrill Community School District to expand into Lone Tree and Pleasant Valley territories was struck down as unconstitutional. The defeat followed three voter elections and a 1986 district court ruling voiding the Sept 1955 election with costs charged to the county board of education. The case likely advances to the Iowa Supreme Court.
