Soil Insecticides Boost Corn Yields Says Farm Authorities
A historical note reports Iowa State University entomologists found fields treated with soil insecticides yield 5-7 more bushels per acre over ten years of field comparisons, with seed treatments offering cheaper per acre protection against seed eating insects. Recommendations include aldrin or heptachlor applications for soil insects in plowed ground and over rows for small grains or soybeans, plus advice to consult county Extension offices for more details. The document also covers a damage suit in district court, a senior piano recital at Westmar, a wedding license issued in Maurice, a false alarm at Minnie Russell residence, and a suit filed by Dr. W J Brunner of Akron.
