Higher salaries for the judges revisit Kansas districts
Topeka May 19 The legislative council will recommend to the 1945 legislature the reappointment of Kansas judicial districts and higher salaries for judges. The plan drops 10 of 40 districts and raises district judge pay from 4000 to 5000 and supreme court justice pay from 6000 to 7500. The council estimates a yearly saving of about 20980. A special session around June 15 may be held to revise state school laws.

RAF officers shot after Dresden camp escape
London disclosed by Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden that 47 RAF officers were shot by Germans after a mass escape from a war camp near Dresden on March 25. Seventy six escaped, fifteen captured, fourteen at large. Some were shot resisting arrest or during a second escape attempt. The dead included veterans of Britain’s air operations and allied dominion forces. No Americans were confirmed involved.

Fined for Crank Driving in Police Court
John A. Taylor of 1532 Tennessee street was found guilty of driving while intoxicated and fined $50, which he paid. Judge Leno suspended his license for a year. A charge of leaving the scene of an accident was dismissed after his arrest at his apartment last Wednesday evening.
