Planes Depend on Tires Amid War Production Worry
Wichita May 19 Representatives of aircraft firms protested to OPA officials and the Sedgwick county rationing board over tire allotments for workers. They warned that without higher county tire quotes, army plane output may drop in a month or two as old tires wear out. Jack D. Pottenger said one plant’s demand could exhaust the county quota, which has fallen monthly the past year. The group planned to seek relief from the regional OPA office.
