Douglas County Court handled 732 cases in year

The Douglas County Court, under Judge Frank R. Gray, heard 732 cases from July 1, 1949, to June 30, 1950, including 611 criminal and 121 civil matters. Civil actions mostly sought money, auto damage, and garnishments, while criminal counts included money-bad checks, embezzlement, forgery, burglary, larceny, and traffic offenses. A notable rise in drunken driving offenses appeared in the year’s first half, with a curious drop after liquor became legal on July 1 1949. Judge Gray noted expectations did not match the decline, and he offered no comment on whether this indicated greater early-year drinking.
