Umble Builds Holstein Herd With Canada Canada Bloodlines
John R Umble of Atglen returns to dairying with a herd of registered Holsteins sourced from Canada and the Wisconsin Michigan dairy region. His remodeled barn features a covered manure pit feeding into a central system. he reports higher yields, lower fertilizer needs, and a planned 70 bushel corn crop despite drought. The herd averages have risen about 60 pounds of butterfat in five years.
