Farm Women group meets at Myer home in Myers town
The Farm Society of Farm Women 2 held a Saturday meeting at Mr. and Mrs. William Myer’s home. After devotions led by Eva Keener and a business session led by Mrs. Marlin Hosler, 23 attended. The group announced events including a picnic on Aug 4 and a multisession campout August 22-24, with a August 14 family picnic planned at Kauffman Park Manheim.

The Strasbore event at the William S. Tinney Memorial Pavilion drew about 65 attendees. Speaker Miss Mary Harnish RN, 21 years in a Tanzania leper colony, was praised by the American Leprosy Mission president for therapy work and making shoes and artificial limbs. The next meeting is 1:30 p.m. August 11 at Mrs. John Hershey’s Paradise RD1 with speaker Mrs. Melvin Kreider on human relations.

PPL to repeal six percent sales tax on electric bills
PP and L customers on RS and RH plans will see July 1 bills reflect the repeal of the 6 percent state sales tax. Current bills cover tax through June 30. The tax reform code of 1971 eliminates the sales tax from electric service for future bills while leaving other tax applications unchanged.
