Local 4 H'ers Demonstrations Win Blue Ribbons
Nine Lancaster County youths earned blue ribbons in the annual 4 H demonstration and public speaking contest at the Farm and Home Center. Junior winners include Susan Martin Anita Burkholder Regina Lehman Barbara Huber Donna Lovett and Jane Gregory for sewing tools clothing construction parts of a sewing machine and saddle care. Senior winners are Judy Risser Debra Gregory and Cindy Hess with topics on vegetable garden planning fruit salad pineapple carving and hay in the feed program. Public speaking went to Mary Jane Eshleman on The Value of Leadership.

York Co 4H Livestock Team Wins York County Contest
York County won the York County 4H Livestock Judging Contest at Stonaire Farms Lewisberry with 1215 points. Lancaster County placed second with 1174 while Dauphin Adams Chester followed. Cumberland and Lebanon also competed. Individual standouts included Gary Buchen fourth overall with a sheep second and heef tie for fifth, Ed Hess ninth, Joe Lefever tenth. Lancaster members Jeffrey Greider and Rick Hess listed. supervisor Victor Longenecker. Next state contest at Penn State August 9-10.
