Alternate row spraying cuts apple spray costs at Penn State
Penn State researchers led by Dr. Fred H. Lewis report mature apple trees can be sprayed along the middle of alternate rows achieving about 90 percent tree coverage. The method lowers pesticide use by about 18 percent, reduces labor, and cuts overall pest control costs while environmental impact is minimized.
