Bull Beef Production Has Good Future
Beltsville researchers challenge the view that bull beef is limited to canning or bologna. In trials with beef-breed weanlings, bulls grew faster, used feed efficiently, and produced leaner carcasses with good rib eye size though slightly less tender than steer meat. Bulls slaugh tered earlier at 15 months reached 900 pounds, with 7.97 pounds of feed per pound gain, saving 16 to 17 percent in feed and 18 percent in labor versus steers. Further markets and pricing remain uncertain, and more data on feeding, breeds, and large feedlot viability is needed.

Wright Brothers First Flight Rising from Workbench Roots
The first flying machines emerged from modest settings not big financiers. Wright brothers repaired bicycles, Glen Martin built planes in a church, Donald Douglas formed ideas in a barber shop in 1920, Matty Laird flew from Chicago farm land, and Clyde Cessna crafted a monoplane in Enid Oklahoma garage.
