The Lamesa rabies clinic vaccinated 128 dogs and cats at the North Fire Station Saturday. City sanitarian Jim Roberts voiced satisfaction with turnout and noted the year’s goal is 300 total vaccinations, counting 75 from a February clinic. Local veterinarians will offer vaccinations at their offices Saturday morning for those who missed the clinic.
Lamesa High School Golden Tornado Band finished second in the Lub bock parade of bands, five points behind Portales New Mexico on a 100 point scale. The band had won the top honor the past two years and still has two more chances in the next two years to win the traveling trophy and make Lamesa its permanent home. Band director Bob Bryant said the group could have improved music and noted plans to work on a new halftime routine for Friday night.
V Z Rogers school students again collect Fun n Fitness seals to fund playground equipment for the campus on Lamesa's east side. Donations can be arranged by calling W Z Rogers School at 872-7353 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. No door to door solicitation. Seals available on Post cereal products and Bird's Eye beverages. Last year the effort produced over 1600 seats and a chin up bar.
