United Way drive surpasses half of goal with early push

Alcoholism Outreach Counselor Leads Lamesa Program
Ron Stubblefield, ex alcoholic now Texas DMHMMR certified, runs an eight hour alcohol offenders program in Lamesa via the adult probation department. Over two years eight classes taught 147 offenders, mainly first offense DWIs, with most entering under court orders and probation conditions. Participants show early reductions in recidivism and many seek further counseling, with about 80 percent contacted after 30 days reporting the program worth the time.
