Explosion at Hale No. 2 drill site in northeastern Martin County killed Willie Joe Waller 41 and John Paul Hemphill 32 both Lamesa workers, plus Joe Gregg Dawson 20 from Harris Rat Hole Service. Delmer C. Oller 48 remained in serious condition with severe burns. Investigators traced the 12 inch Santa Fe pipeline puncture to a rat hole machine centering the site as Britt Construction prepared caliche and Jet Oil planned to move in Monday.

Dawson County Pioneer Mrs. M C Lindsey Dies in Lamesa
Mrs. M C Lindsey 95 of Lamesa, a Dawson County pioneer, died Saturday at Medical Center Hospital Odessa after a brief illness. Services were Monday at First Baptist Church with Rev C H Murphy. Burial followed in Lamesa Cemetery. She taught at Lou School, led WMU, presided over the Lamesa Delphian Club, supported Girl Scouts, and donated land for a Scout Hut. She married M C Lindsey in 1908. he died in 1955.
