Max Eastman will replace his original lecture topic Poetry in the Age of Science with Russia's Foreign Policy and How to Meet It for United Nations Day at Kent State University. Sophomore Chestnut Burr portraits will be taken in Stopher hall, first floor lounge, groups of 15, this week. Editor Roger Baele says only four pictures have been taken so far and the section may be replaced with campus highlights if cooperation fails. The Burr cost is covered by student activity fees for all fall winter and spring quarters.

Government Scholarships Open for 1950 51 Graduate Study
The Department of State and the President's Board of Foreign Scholarships announced open competitions for government awards for the 1950 51 academic year. Eleven countries participate including the United Kingdom Belgium Burma Netherlands Philippines Greece New Zealand France Italy Iran and Norway. Eligibility requires U.S. citizenship a degree by the start of study and knowledge of the host country language. Applicants enrolled at KSU should contact Dr. W Leslie Garnett in the English department for forms.

Trophy Rejected By Frat Council
Interfraternity council voted Wednesday evening to reject the trophy offered by Lt. Col. Thomas F. Wall and ROTC for the fraternity or sorority selling the most tickets for the Bowling Green Migration train. The council said fraternities would not enter as it viewed the contest as a commercial venture. Colonel Wall said the trophy would stay and be open to sororities if they continue to compete.

Qualifications Set For Men’s Union Election
At a committee meeting last night the Men’s Union laid out qualifications for the November 15 election. Senior officer must have been in the union last year and hold a 2.0 accumulative average and 2.0 last quarter. Class officers require a 2.0 average. Petitions are due by November 4 at 1 p.m. with 10% class names. late petitions must be in before 4:15 p.m. and given to the elections committee.
