Rural Health Leaders Meet Here Saturday

The second annual Rural Health Conference of northeastern Ohio will be on the campus Saturday Oct. 22 with 200 rural health leaders expected. Four area school and health officials will address the conference including A J Dillehay F R Schoffield Mrs Goldie Carnahan and E S Kerr. A group discussion in the afternoon will be led by Mrs Blanche Miller of the Anti Tuberculosis league Cincinnati.

Fresh To Be Named Queen At Frat Ball

One of 18 freshmen girls at the Beta Ball of Alpha Phi Beta fraternity will be named Freshman Sweetheart Friday night at Twin Lakes Country Club. The winner comes from two pledges from each sorority and two freshmen from Moulton Hall, announced during intermission. Kent photographer Robert Swartout will publicly select the Sweetheart while Bill D Alexander, social chairman, coordinates pictures. The Beta Ball is an annual Alpha Phi Beta event with Robert Gambles's nine piece orchestra from 9 to 1 playing for the dance.

Victory Dance Planned by Booster Club for Akron Game Night

Booster club meets Friday to organize a Victory Dance on November 12 at Wills Gym from 9 to 12. Coaches staffs teams and their dates will attend as guests of honor. Bob McClelland and Jean Greer named co chairmen with Wayne Dorsey and Terry Atkinson on the committee.

Assistant Dean Is Named Eldred L. Saviers at Kent State

Eldred L. Saviers of Cuyahoga Falls is named Assistant Dean of Men and Alumni Secretary at Kent State University by President George A Bowman. He holds a B S in education from Kent and a master’s in education completed this summer. He served 42 months in the U S Air Force as a first lieutenant navigator on a B 29 in the Pacific theater and has prior teaching and corporate experience.

Homecoming Gala Weekend Highlights At Local College

Homecoming starts Saturday with a soccer game versus Western Reserve University and a dorm and Greek house decorations judging. A 2 p.m. football game against Connecticut U features a halftime Homecoming queen presentation chosen by judges from Canton Cleveland and Akron. The queen must be a junior or senior with a 2 average, never previously crowned. Evening events include a dance and a Homecoming play John Loves Mary directed by Prof. G Harry Wright, plus banquets, open houses, and receptions hosted by student groups and fraternities.
