The United States Civil Service Commission outlines examinations for junior management assistant and junior professional assistant. Closing date for applications is Nov 13. Dutch Soprano Recital at Union Ballroom Thursday

Dutch soprano Toos Baas will perform in the Union ballroom on Thursday afternoon October 18 at 2. Sponsored by the assembly committee, Miss Baas travels from New York City after a Town Hall recital. Born in Utrecht she studied in Amsterdam and debuted with the Utrecht Symphony Orchestra. She now resides in Bogota and has appeared in many recitals and on South American radio. The program is open to the public and free.

Freshman Play Tryouts Announced at Kent Hall

Freshman play tryouts announced by Earle E. Curtis assistant professor of speech will be held this afternoon from 3 to 5 in 119 Kent and tomorrow evening from 7 to 10 in 119 Kent. The Curious Savage by John Patrick opens to all freshmen with performances November 29 30 and December 1.

Kent Hosts Northern Ohio Institute on Family Relations

Kent State University will host the Ohio Council on Family Relations institute on October 27 with speakers led by Dr. James Bossard of the University of Pennsylvania addressing American family futures. Sessions cover parent child, marriage, school family ties, counseling, and research with afternoon panel discussions and an evening close on Enriching Family Life.

Selective Service Tests Open for College Qualification

Applications for the December 13 1951 and April 24 1952 college qualification tests are now available at local Selective Service boards. Eligible students should apply promptly, fill out the form, and mail it in the provided envelope. Dec 13 test apps must be postmarked by November 5.

Flashes fall to Bucknell in Memorial Stadium loss

The Kent State Flashes were outplayed 13-7 by Bucknell before about 6,500 fans. Bucknell opened with a TD, added a 17-yard pass and controlled yardage while Kent State fought back but could not finish, ending undefeated hopes for the season.

Classic Film Series Opens At University Library

The University library and the audio visual center present the first film in a series at 6 and 8 15 in the Arts building auditorium. John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath stars Henry Fonda and is free to all students with tickets from the library reserve desk.

IRC To Hold First Meeting

The International Relations club will hold its first meeting of the year tomorrow at 7 in Union 207. Jan McGarr, secretary, will speak on Europe and its present condition, travel in Europe, and six country slides Italy Switzerland France Belgium England Holland. Foreign students will attend to meet others, inviting student body and faculty to participate.

Fall Frolics Begin Tonight for HPE Majors

The Fall Frolics start tonight at 7 in the Men's Gym for HPE majors and minors. Sponsored by the HPE club with Ed Lannin as president and advisors William R. Hoover and Hester Jane Johnson. The program includes class competition with points from attendance and a relay event. A square dancing demonstration by Mrs. Harvey's group is planned for tomorrow evening.

Clinic Opens For University Students

The psychology clinic at 219 Kent opens to University students with testing for aptitude interest intelligence personality and vocational and personal adjustment. Hours are 9 am to noon and 1 to 5 pm Monday through Friday announced by Dr. Charles N. Winslow director.
