Dance Starts Tonight At 9 In Wills Gym
Freshmen and upperclassmen will attend the ice breaker dance at 9 in Wills gymnasium with both faculty and student body invited by Don Moore, social committee chair. He expects one of the largest crowds since early Kent social gatherings. The event was postponed from last Friday due to the death of Dr. John E. McGilvrey, university president emeritus.

Memorial Book Holds 112 WWII Student Sketches
Kent State University plans a brown leather embossed Memorial Book created by the class of 1945. It will record 112 WW II casualties with space for each man’s photo name class and place of death. The book will be displayed in the atrium before library exhibition.

Refugee's Father Dies In London
Hans Vogel, pro Nazi German labor leader who died in London on Sunday, was the father of Ernest Vogel a former refugee student. Ernest, who studied languages and engaged in campus life from January 1941 to March 1943, later enlisted. The elder Vogel a wood carver from Nuremberg, joined the Reichstag and led the Social Democratic party before fleeing to Prague Paris and finally London.

Freshmen Dues and Committees Set at Tuesday Meeting
A freshman class meeting in room 817 McGilvrey hall at 4 p m on Tuesday Oct 12 will set dues for the year and elect executive and entertainment committees to run class activities until officers are elected. Advisers Jean Goncher and Dona Mae Burkhardt announced the plan today.

Montgomery Heads Clinic Expansion and Reorganization
John R. Montgomery was named professor of speech and head of clinical work directing the expansion and reorganization of the university speech and hearing clinic. The remodeled facility will offer audiometer and speech analyses, lip reading for the hard of hearing, and diagnosis and treatment of speech defects. The clinic aims to serve northeastern Ohio and university training schools, and will train speech therapists for public schools.

Petitions Due Monday for Class Officer Elections

K-Vets Elect Officers and Plan Dance
At the K-Vets opening meeting on Wednesday October 10 Clarence Tonka was named president. Other officers elected were John Etz vice president Shirley Haines secretary Jack Cropp treasurer and John Fouser sergeant at arms. Jack Cobb and Dick Stallsmith were appointed co chairmen for the November 3 dance. Money was provided for many records for weekly social dances.
